Il Vescovo is our award winning flagship red wine. Made with a mix of our Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec (IGT) grapes, it is a complex and elegant blend that is rich and full-bodied. An incredibly tasty and generously balanced red wine that won 2 stars of excellence at the London 2015 Bellavita awards.  

Our labels have a personal meaning but all reflect either a story, the history of Italy or the grape.

HOW WE NAMED IT - Il Vescovo: translates to The Bishop. Our uncle Franco had added a small chapel on our land and had invited Bishop Domenico Padovano from the town of Conversano to undertake the mass. We thought we were ready but at the last minute we realised we were missing the wine! Not something we were short of! So, Bishop Domenico used our wine - in the bottle – no label, no name! He absolutely adored it and after using it for the consecration ceremony, he happily went away with a few samples! This is why we named it the bishop: Il Vescovo and the picture on the label is our homage to San Nicola, who is the patron saint of Bari.

 70% Malbec 30% Cabernet Sauvignon IGT

We age this robust wine in steel barrels for 9 months so the flavour can develop then for a further 4 months in the bottle.

Top Tips:

  • Our Terre Di San Vito wines can be opened as if there were no wax at all. Simply insert the corkscrew straight through the wax and pull out the cork normally.
  • On a hot day, our red wine can be served slightly chilled. Best chilled for 20 minutes before serving to enhance the flavour. 

Il Vescovo is well-suited to all meats, savoury sauces, game and cheese. Salute!❤️

Terre Di San Vito is so very proud that we have ‘Organic’ status for our grapes, olives and extra virgin olive oil.

We use only the highest quality ingredients and adhere to the "organic" certification and have had the "bio" or "organic" certification since 2017.This certification is for our rich and fertile soil. It includes the cultivation of grapes, olives, vegetables, fruits and melons, roots and tubers.

The food grown and processed on the Terre Di San Vito land uses no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Our pesticides are derived from natural sources (such as biological pesticides).
