Bombino Nero

Puglia IGT is one of the most important wine areas of the region.
The wines belonging to the appellation of Puglia IGT are produced mainly from Bombino Nero, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Primitivo and Sauvignon grape varieties.
Puglia lies at the heart of the Mediterranean, caressed by the sun and the sea breezes, and its excellent climate and variegated landscapes have for centuries provided the ideal conditions for the development of excellent wine-growing districts and for the growth of avant-garde wineries such as Terre Di San Vito.
Bombino Nero (Species: Vitis vinifera) is a native grape to Italy but does particularly well in this area (Puglia IGT).  It is the main grapevine for the production of DOCG Castel del Monte Bombino Nero.
It is ideally structured for the production of rosé wines: has medium sized leaves with five lobes, its fruit are dense and spheroidal shape with a blue-black skin. The Bombino Nero grape is high in acidity, low in sugar and its clusters often contain non-pigmented berries, qualities which make it unsuited for red wine production but perfect for a rosé wine such as our Mosi.
Bombino Nero is commonly mistaken as the dark skinned partner of Bombino Bianco, also found throughout Puglia, although DNA testing reveals they are in fact different, albeit closely related.
Carefully cultivated and harvested, this wine has precious qualities: bright pink colour, a rich aroma of fruity scents and a pleasantly fresh mineral flavour, making it quintessential for our Mosi rosé with 100% Bombino Nero.
